PEORIA (September 29, 2021) – Another big announcement for frontrunner Bridget Binsbacher today as she revealed that former Peoria Mayors Bob Barrett and John Keegan have endorsed her bid for Mayor. The former mayors join current Peoria Mayor Cathy Carlat in supporting Binsbacher – representing twenty-four consecutive years of leadership for the city spanning from 1997 to today.
Former Mayor Bob Barrett said, “There is no doubt that Bridget Binsbacher truly cares about Peoria having served residents of all ages with her work on behalf of kids, working people, and retirees. Her fresh perspective and tireless work ethic have served her constituents well as a Councilmember and I believe she will continue to do so as Mayor. Peoria has had a solid continuum of leadership that started before my time as Mayor and has certainly continued after. We can trust Bridget Binsbacher to continue this tradition. Please join me in supporting Bridget as the next Mayor of Peoria.”
Bob Barrett served as Peoria Mayor from 2007 to 2014. Prior to his service as Mayor, he represented Peoria’s Ironwood District from 2001 to 2006 where he served alongside Keegan. Former Mayor John Keegan served as Peoria Mayor from 1997 to 2007. Prior to his service as Mayor, Keegan served in the Arizona House of Representatives (1991 to 1995) and he later went on to serve as a Justice of the Peace.
Former Mayor John Keegan explained, “For several years, I’ve been very impressed as a Republican to see the fiscal discipline of Bridget Binsbacher on the Peoria City Council. Her financial background and expertise in budgeting have served the city very well and put our community in a strong financial position for the future. It’s one thing to talk about fiscal responsibility, but it’s another thing to consistently put it into action year after year. I would encourage anyone who cares about fiscal responsibility in Peoria to vote for Bridget Binsbacher for Mayor.”
“I am deeply honored to be endorsed by these two individuals who served our community so well and have brought strong leadership to Peoria. I appreciate Peoria’s history and I am so pleased that I can turn to these former Mayors for guidance and support,” said Bridget Binsbacher, “The reason Peoria is doing so well is because we have had strong leaders who were willing to work together for nearly a quarter of a century. Mayor Barrett was on council with Keegan, Mayor Carlat was on council with Barrett, and now I’ve served on council with her. I am proud to have their support and would be honored to follow in all of their footsteps as mayor.”
The City of Peoria Arizona has had thirteen mayors since it was incorporated in 1954. Mayors Carlat, Barrett, and Keegan are the three living current and former mayors following the passing of former Mayor Ron Travers in 2019.
